Survey Respondent Guide

This guide is for stakeholders who have been invited to complete a Karomia survey. You can share this page with your stakeholders to help them understand the process.

What is this survey about?

You have been invited to participate in a Double Materiality Assessment survey. Your input helps the organization identify which sustainability topics are most significant from both an impact and financial perspective. Your responses will directly inform the organization's sustainability strategy and reporting.

Before you begin

  • The survey opens in your web browser. No app installation or account creation is required.
  • Click the link or scan the QR code provided to you.
  • A language toggle is available at the top right of the survey at all times. You can switch languages whenever you need to.

The 7 steps of the survey

Step 1: Introduction

You will see a welcome page with context about the assessment, including:

  • What the survey is about and why your input matters.
  • The organization's introduction message (which may include a video).
  • Terms of participation that you will need to accept to proceed.
  • A Cloudflare verification to confirm you are a real person. This is a quick, automated check.

Step 2: Topic ranking

You will be presented with a list of ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) topics covering environmental, social, and governance themes. For each topic, assign it to one of three relevance tiers:

  • Higher relevance — Topics you consider most significant to the organization.
  • Mid relevance — Topics with moderate significance.
  • Lower relevance — Topics with less significance in your view.

This ranking helps the survey focus your remaining questions on the topics you find most important.

Step 3: Expertise questions

For the top 4 topics you ranked as most relevant, indicate your level of expertise:

  • Little knowledge — You have limited familiarity with this topic.
  • Stay informed — You follow developments in this area and have a working understanding.
  • Expert — You have extensive professional knowledge or experience with this topic.

Your expertise level helps the organization understand the perspective behind your responses. There is no penalty for indicating limited knowledge — all perspectives are valuable.

Step 4: Scoring

You will be shown specific Impacts, Risks, and Opportunities (IROs) related to the topics you ranked highest. For each IRO:

  • Score from 1 to 5 — Rate the significance of the impact, risk, or opportunity (1 = very low, 5 = very high).
  • "I don't have an answer" — Select this option if you do not feel qualified to score a particular IRO. This is always available and will not affect your other responses.
  • Qualitative insights — After scoring, you can provide written comments to explain your reasoning or add context. These comments are valuable for the organization's analysis.
info

The number of scoring questions you receive depends on the survey configuration. Not every respondent receives the same questions. The survey dynamically selects questions based on your topic ranking, your expertise, and which questions need more responses overall. This keeps the survey manageable while ensuring balanced coverage.

Step 5: Results summary

After completing all scoring questions, you will see a summary of your responses. This summary shows:

  • Your scores by topic — How you rated each topic area.
  • Your aggregate scores — Your overall scoring patterns across all topics.

This step is for your review only. You cannot change your responses at this stage.

Step 6: Email collection

You may optionally provide your email address. This is important to understand:

  • Providing your email is completely optional.
  • Your email is never linked to your individual answers. The organization cannot see which responses belong to which email address.
  • If provided, your email may only be used for follow-up communication about the assessment.
  • The survey can be completed fully anonymously by skipping this step.

Step 7: Thank you

A closing page confirms that your responses have been submitted. Thank you for your participation.
