What is a Double Materiality Assessment?

A Double Materiality Assessment evaluates sustainability topics from two angles:

  • Impact materiality — How your organization affects the environment and society.
  • Financial materiality — How sustainability topics create risks and opportunities that affect your organization's financial position.

Assessment workflow

Karomia guides you through the DMA in a structured, step-by-step process:

  1. Set the scene — Define your organization's context, activities, value chain, and stakeholder landscape.
  2. Data collection — Gather input from stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
  3. IRO analysis — Analyze impacts, risks, and opportunities for each identified topic.
  4. Results — Review the materiality matrix and finalize which topics are material.
  5. Reporting — Generate reports from your assessment findings.
